- What is Youth Action?
Youth Action is United Way Ottawa's for-youth-by-youth program. It’s an opportunity for young people to volunteer their time by joining the Youth Action Panel, by applying for a Youth Action Grant or by participating in Youth Action events.
- What is the Youth Action Panel?
The Youth Action Panel is a group of 8 young people between the ages of 13 and 19 who volunteer their time with United Way Ottawa. They are responsible for making decisions and recommendations about where to invest up to $60,000 in youth-led community projects.
- What is a Youth Action Grant?
Grants of up to $2,500 are allocated by the Youth Action Panel to teams of young people who will address an issue or challenge in their community through an active community project.
- How old do I have to be to participate in Youth Action?
In order to be a Panel member and/or apply for a Youth Action Grant, you must be between the ages of 13 and 19.
- I’m not in school, can I still get involved?
Absolutely! Youth Action is open to every young person in the community. It doesn’t matter whether you are in or out of school, or what your socio-economic, cultural or religious background is... WE want YOU to get involved in this diverse program!
- Do I get community service hours if I get involved?
Yes, you will get as many community service hours as you put into the program.
